Friends of Hilbre supports the islands through practical task days, visitor information, events, education, interpretation and partnership working.
Conservation
Hands-on care for the landscape
Volunteer tasks may include vegetation management, path work, litter removal, observation and support for reserve management.
Work is planned with the relevant responsible organisations and appropriate safety arrangements.
Heritage
Keeping island stories visible
Friends support interpretation, records, publications and selected maintenance activity around the historic buildings.
This work helps visitors understand how the buildings served the island and why their care matters today.
Visitors and learning
Helping people prepare and understand
Good visitor information protects people and the place. Open Days, group visits and online resources connect more people with Hilbre’s landscape and history.
